This study examined the effect of High-Performance Work Systems (HPWS), measured through comprehensive training, performance-based compensation, and employee involvement, on organisational resilience of small enterprises in Benue State, Nigeria. Anchored on the Resource-Based View and Ability Motivation-Opportunity (AMO) framework, the study adopted a cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected from 360 small enterprise owners and managers using proportionate stratified random sampling, with 338 valid responses obtained. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and multiple regression. Findings revealed that HPWS significantly predicts organisational resilience, explaining 47.2% of its variance (R² = .472, F(3,384) = 8.610, p < .001). Comprehensive training emerged as the strongest predictor (β = .334, p = .001), followed by performance-based compensation (β = .286, p = .015) and employee involvement (β = .253, p = .004). The study concludes that strategic human resource practices strengthen small enterprises’ ability to withstand environmental disruptions. It recommends structured employee development, performance-linked incentives, and participative decision-making to improve survival and adaptability.
