The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into English language pedagogy has emerged as a transformative approach in contemporary education systems worldwide. In Nigeria, where English functions as the official language and the primary medium of instruction across educational levels, the deployment of ICT in English language teaching and learning presents significant opportunities as well as considerable challenges. This paper critically examines the prospects and constraints associated with ICT deployment in English language education within the Nigerian context. Drawing on empirical studies, relevant theoretical perspectives, and educational policy documents, the study identifies major prospects of ICT integration, including improved learner engagement, increased access to authentic language resources, promotion of individualized learning, and enhancement of learners’ communicative competence. However, the study also highlights persistent challenges, such as inadequate technological infrastructure, limited digital literacy among teachers, ineffective policy implementation, socio-economic inequalities, and institutional constraints. The paper concludes that effective ICT integration in English language pedagogy requires comprehensive teacher training, improved technological infrastructure, consistent policy implementation, and sustained investment in educational technology. These measures are essential for maximizing the potential of ICT in improving English language teaching and learning outcomes in Nigeria.
